MR. GREGORY H. WATSON
President, Business Systems Solutions Inc.

Business Systems Solutions, Inc. is a global management consulting company dedicated to improving the performance of its clients through the application of strategic benchmarking, business assessment, breakthrough planning and systems engineering using the Six Sigma methodologies. In addition, Mr. Watson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Oklahoma State University where he teaches distance learning courses on engineering technology and management.

Previously, Mr. Watson was Vice President of Quality for Xerox Office Document Products, Vice President of Benchmarking at the American Quality & Productivity Center , Director of Quality at Compaq Computer and Manager of the Quality Leadership Development Program in the Corporate Office of Hewlett-Packard. Before his commercial career, Mr. Watson served as a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy. Among his many achievements he is the co-founder of the International Benchmarking Clearinghouse at the American Productivity & Quality Center and founder of the Six Sigma Advisory Committee to the International Standards Organization Technical Committee on Statistical Matters.

Mr. Wason was inducted as an Academician into the International Academy for Quality in 1996 and is currently serving as its Vice President of Publications. He was elected to the College of Fellows of the World Productivity Science Council in 1997. Mr. Watson is a Past-President and Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Companion of the Institute for Quality Assurance in the United Kingdom , and has been elected a Fellow of the Australian Organization for Quality, the Quality Society of AustralAsia and the Royal Statistical Society.

In 2003 Mr. Watson presented the 25 th John Loxham invited lecture to the Institute for Quality Assurance in Glasgow , Scotland . In 2001 he was awarded the Lancaster Medal by the American Society for quality in recognition of his global efforts in extending the body of quality knowledge and the Association for Quality & Participation (AQP) presented him with the President’s Award in recognition of his career contributions to the quality profession. Also in 2001, Mr. Watson delivered a 50 th Anniversary Deming Lecture to the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers. In 2000 he was named by a survey of quality professionals as one of the world’s top “21 voices of quality in the 21 st century” in Quality Progress magazine.

Mr. Watson completed his Master Black Belt credential in 1998 under Dr. Mikel Harry of Six Sigma Academy ; has twice served on the Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award; and been a judge for the state quality awards of Texas , Florida and New York . He holds masters degrees in systems management, legal studies, industrial engineering, and business administration. Mr. Watson has been elected to honor societies for academics (Phi Kappa Phi), engineering (Tau Beta Phi) and industrial engineering (Alpha Pi Mu) and he has been certified as a Quality Engineer by the American Society for Quality.

Mr. Watson has authored or collaborated on ten quality-related books including Strategic Benchmarking (John Wiley & Sons, 1993) which Fortune Magazine selected for as an alternative selection for book-of-the month, Library Journal nominated as one of the twelve best business books of 1993 and Executive Summaries chose as one of the 30 best business books of 1993. His most recent books are Six Sigma for Business Leaders and Design for Six Sigma: Innovation for Enhanced Competitiveness published by GOAL/QPC in 2004 and 2005.
