  IAPQA - CYCLE 2010


INTRODUCTION
The International Asia Pacific Quality Award (IAPQA) is administered by the Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO). APQO is a non-profit organization that serves as an umbrella group that brings together all of the leading quality professional societies from countries that border on the Pacific Ocean or are considered Asian / Pacific Rim nations. The governing body of APQO includes representatives from Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. The award is sponsored by a foundation established by APQO called The Walter L. Hurd Foundation. Management direction for the award is provided by the International Asia Pacific Quality Award Executive Committee. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS - The following requirements must be met in order for an organization to apply for the 2010 IAPQA.
  • The Candidates for the award must already have won their National Quality Award within the last 3 years (2007-2009).
  • The National Quality Award Organization/s must recommend Candidates for the International Asia Pacific Quality Award (IAPQA).
  • The National Quality Award Organization or the Candidate must include in its evaluations a site visit report that verifies that the IAPQA application documents reflect the organization’s actual operations.
  • Application must be in Baldrige Award Criteria format to the item level with a maximum number of 60 pages plus the National Feedback Report.

  • Small Manufacturing Organizations (e.g., organizations with less than 250 employees)
  • Small Service Organizations (e.g., organizations with less than 250 employees)
  • Educational Organizations
  • Health Care Organizations
  • Large Manufacturing Organizations
  • Large Service organizations
  • Not for Profit Organizations including Government Organizations

WORLD CLASS:
Maximum points over world class minimum

BEST OF CLASS:

Given to the organization having the second best points over world class minimum.

QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE:

Given to the organization over world class minimum. 



APPLICATION
EVALUATION CRITERIA

Trained Malcolm Baldrige Award Examiners, using the criteria set by the MBNQA to examiner organizations in the United States, are utilized to evaluate the candidates. Point scores are given in each of the following seven elements:    

Leadership
Stratigic Planning
Customer and Market Focus
Measurement, Analysis and Knowledge Management
Human Resource Focus
Process Management   
Business Results

Applicants may submit their application form along with the feedback report addressing all Criteria Items according to the MBNQA requirements. Also, the feedback report of the Award Organization must be enclosed.

AWARD SCHEDULE
  • Submission of recommended Candidates for the award from the National Quality Award Organizations – now until February 28, 2010
  • Submission of applications directly by Candidates or by the National Quality Award Organizations to the IAPQA Award Administrator – Now until March 30, 2010 deadline
  • Notifications of awards to winners – June 15, 2010
  • Awards presentation in Kathmandu, Nepal on September 18-20, 2010 at the 16th APQO / NQPCN International Conference.

NOTE:
Application reports will be destroyed after the evaluation and the presentation of the awards.
