General Director of the Federal Electricity Commission For the first time in 10 years, the constriction of a large hydroelectric plant in our country began. In 2003, he led the efforts to construct the El Cajon Hydroelectric Central in Nayarit which began operating in 2007. From the end of 2007 and during 2008, he led the panel that successfully counteracted the risk posed by the landslide that blocked the course of the Rio Grijalva, which put the population downstream in serious danger and threatened to damage the infrastructure of the Malpaso and Penitas centrals. This involved the construction of a channel on the slide mass in record time to restore the river's capacity to regulate and stabilize the slope on the right bank of the river by digging drainage tunnels to prevent further landslides.
In his administrration, he has placed particular emphasis on human resource training, especially in the engineering area. He created the University of Technology of CFE (UTEC), which now has 14 campuses in which through agreements with universities and technological institutes, bachelor and master degree programs have been established designed to meet the specific needs of CFE. Under his leadership, the Museum of Technology of the CFE was modernized and it has become a place to stir the interest in science and engineering among children and young people.
Throughout the mamgement of Mr. Elias Ayub, for the last 11 years, a strong support has been given to the Quality Program which consists of ISO 9000 and 14000 certification of all the CFE processes, i.e., a company of 80 thousand employees and 25 million customers.
